Sink Mixers
How to choose your mixer
When choosing a kitchen mixer, consider the following:
- Spout height and reach: Make sure it fits your sink size and allows comfortable access for washing dishes or filling pots.
- Water pressure: Check your home's water pressure to ensure compatibility.
- All Pressure mixers are suitable for low-pressure systems.
- Mains Pressure mixers are suitable for high-pressure systems.
- Style and finish: Chrome, stainless steel, brushed nickel, or black can match your kitchen design.
- Features: Pull-out or pull-down sprays, swivel spouts, and single or dual lever operation for convenience.
- WELS rating: Choose water-efficient taps to save water and comply with New Zealand standards.
- Professional advice: It's recommended to involve a qualified plumber to ensure the mixer is compatible and installed correctly.
Types of spray
Kitchen mixers are commonly available in the following types:
- Pull-down Spout: The spout is fixed to a flexible hose that can be pulled downward into the sink. Ideal for filling pots and cleaning large items.
- Pull-out Spout: The spout extends outward from the mixer, giving flexibility to reach different parts of the sink or to fill nearby containers.
- Pull-out Spray: A dedicated spray head pulls out from the spout, usually offering multiple spray functions for rinsing or cleaning vegetables and dishes.
